Item #1252
Annual. 85-100 days. A new selection of an heirloom
dent corn with an exceptional mix of
colors. Called "dent" corn because
fully mature kernels will have a dent
in the tip. Tall plants produce one or
two large, 8"-10" long ears filled with
multi-colored kernels in shades of gold,
orange, yellow, blue, green, pink, red
and brown. Lovely for fall ornamental
displays, or grind kernels into cornmeal
for a delicious cornbread.
This packet sows two 5-foot rows.

When to sow outside: RECOMMENDED.
1 to 2 weeks after average last frost and
when soil is warm
(60-65°F).
When to start inside: Not recommended. Corn seed does not transplant well.
Special germination instructions: Please review the cross-pollination prevention information inside this packet before planting.
Harvesting: Let the ears dry on the stalks. They are ready for harvest when the kernels are hard and you can no longer leave a mark on them with your fingernail. Before the first fall frost, give each ear a twist until it breaks off. Peel back the husks, then hang the ears in a cool, dark, dry place for 4-6 weeks to cure. This is important to prevent mold. To strip off cured kernels, twist the cobs back and forth to loosen them (gloves are recommended).
